Tenali R.K. EP02 Michelangelo and Granite. (Bedtime Stories)
This Bedtime Stories Tenali R.K. was of two Mystic Men in the World of Struggle that can Inspire you in many different ways.
This Bedtime Stories is divided into many episodes, this is EP02 out on the 11th of Aug,2021. Click here for Episode01 The Universe’s Plan.
I wanted a bit of privacy with this stranger, with the time I wanted to know what can you but keep it a secret to the others. The privilege of being the chairperson to a large company is, at the snap of fingers you’re good to dispose of your gatherings. I ordered two beverages and snacks, and offer to sit to R.K.
I wanted to hear him speak first. My general buzzing around goes that way, I let other speak their mind calculate their capabilities, learn of the blisters on workers and then pass on my orders to get the job done, it works all the time a bad boss gives orders well as good boss mixes implies a thing that he’s not giving orders, so I waited for the arcade to open up and speak, I signal them to start with my eyes.
This has never happened to me before, he took his Cup of tea and started enjoying it smiling. He kept on drinking so did I, I was indeed running out of patience he sips, I sip too, we both fell into a loop of the powerplay. I wanted him to say something first and vice-versa, I give him a serious impatience looks.
Started dribbling my fingers on the desk, he finished his tea leaned forward, and said “this is the worst tea I’ve ever had, you should taste the tea from my village. Frankly, I lost my cool. “Why would I even come to your village”, I asked he laughed I knew not that I was speaking to a cunningly intelligent one.
“Oh, have you forgotten we are not here for tea, the stolen painting? It was painted in my village and you should come to see it.”, I choked on my tea. This information was not leaked out except to the core committee of three. Ss..stolen, I asked shocked. He simply smiled.
I was dead curious to know how he knew the painting was stolen, upon much pressure he revealed. He had only come to ask for his job because he thought the painting was a sign for him. But my own curiosity and impatience gave it a way to him that this painting was more important to me than to him and the reason he was offered a seat on with tea, was because I wanted to hear what information he had on the paintings.
He put 2 and 2 together and took a shot to know if it was stolen or something. And I, like an idiot choked on my tea and confirm the same, if we investigators with genius enough, I would have gotten the paintings back by now. Impressed by his presence of mind, I decided to offer him a job, I knew not, what designation he would hold, but I needed him in the office.
So I decided to take him to the upgraded secured lockers, where the rest three paintings were safeguarded, but before that, he needed a shower, change of clothes, and a meal.
All were arranged, I showed him the three paintings that I still had.
The Painting of the King Rajaraja Chola.
Painting of a village woman fetching water.
Night stars are being gazed at by king and queen.
The missing ones were of-
Goddess Kali with closed eyes.
And an unidentified temple of the classical dancer.
All these were marvelous that was luckily unharmed during the British era and remained with the safeguarding families without being subject to takeover by the government, in a way these treasures were saved by many generations none of them felt aggrieved of selling them, as some of kings and knights sold the entire nation to the invaders with greed for money but these individuals stood for what belongs to this country’s treasury and ensure the safety of such, believing in my capabilities seven different families donated these priceless treasures to my hands.
At this old they would have been millionaires but no they wanted these preserved in the right hands, I offered to pay them for these but they politely denied, such as the austerity of those who protected the paintings until now. I share this pain with R.K. whom I had just met. The aura that twirls around his eyes gives me the confidence that he could be my confidante.
He asked how the break-in had happened. I was otherwise engaged with Pratyngira Textiles exports business, I was at the docks taking care of the shipment, second, my father and my mother was celebrating their anniversary and were at a vacation, third, my uncle, maternal, was overlooking the startup under Pratyngira Group, it was a branding agency meant to fish money by bringing sponsors and brands for even shows and films.
Just about all of us were conveniently away, a group of burglars went straight to the walls and could still 4 of the 7 paintings, I do not know how to correct the codes to disarm the alarms but the broken door concrete security scheme had dissolved into dust, they were no ordinary bugging, a well-planned theft was executed so perfectly that no one but I am looking for them.
Hearing all this, R.K filled deep into thoughts looking at my collection of artifacts, hundreds of them. The ideal of a Gandharva took his interest and picked it up. The burglary is an inside job he said. I knew that much..hah, even a 5-year-old who listens to the story could figure that much it was no coincidence that all the important of us were out of the town and the burglary happened, I give a sarcastic look at RK.
He smiled and added the usual suspect will be your uncle. Like people usually blame the Butler from Major Domestic Crimes, they also blamed weird-looking uncles, your voice changed when mentioning him.
I was taken aback, now I wanted to hear more, he said “Looking at the size of your palace, and the level of security scheme that you have. He wouldn’t want to stay, in case there was a need for a switch button. Even terrorist has the switch button these days. No one knows when they might have to abort. So if a weird uncle was out of town, the possibility of him pulling this off stands minimal.
Looking to the security briefing, who all have clearance to the topmost security levels and we are on-site at the art of theft, they are a suspect. when there are people who would sell the country for money, surely you can buy some traffic for days with the money you have.”
Influenced traffic control room gets the full-day vehicle coming towards the gallery at the time of the burglary. They would be many, eliminate the vehicle that comes in these routes on a regular basis, so you will need a list of vehicle numbers on that date, and at least on 30 different dates for an average estimation.
Compact.Conclude.Eliminate. For this, you will need a team of at least 15 trusted people, buy them. We’ll need professionals who can recreate the crime scene in secret, buy them. We’ll need a few Goons, buy them. I was okay with buying the rest of them, but why Goons.
I didn’t understand, when I questioned the same, he laughed and said “See just like you’re buying this professional your enemies also have bought their professionals when you tried to hit them back the first thing they’ll do is threaten your life with goons, don’t wait till you are attacked but be prepared to counter, so that settled then we’re hiring goons and when war comes to let the goons fight goons and we concentrate on the work to be done.
I smiled and filled the bliss of having one forward-thinking brain on this site, in fact standing in front of him I felt a little as if Hanuman stood in front of a regular monkey is might be a little my intellect. Just then he looked at Gandharva and asked “Is this a sculpture of an angel?”
I said, “That is a Gandharva“, I replied. Sadly, we know of angels with wings and Hobbs but not the Gandharva with wings and spears, that is a Veer Baahu, the celestial warrior is said to have differed in many demons and works, commander in chief for Lord Subramanya.
This sculpture is of him dating back to the sixth century. “So this is an artifact?”, he asked, “No, this is a treasure” I replied sharply. “Have you heard of Michelangelo?” I asked further, he nodded. “His sculpture David” I added, he nodded further. See you are from a remote village even you have heard of Michelangelo and his David, good appreciate that.
But did you know Michelangelo’s David is sculpted on marble? Marble is a substance that forms from limestone and it has more pores making it easier to sculpt on. Just because something is white doesn’t make it divine. Look at the sculpture in your hands, it is made of dark stone, Granite just like many sculptures in India this is 10 times harder to chisel and curve than an average white marble. Writers had thrown the normal chair to David and broke it apart into 3 parts.
But to break Indian sculptures in where does have to use axes/spears and heavy weapons of metal. The artists who have done these sculptures and punish their hands with extra bars, then it takes to sculpt marble. Beyond sculpting, I insist you pass a strand from his hands. It would come in from the other. Indian sculptors of full of such marvels but the wth minute details.
I handed him a strand, it did astonish him to see this strand passing from one hand and come on from the other. His eyes widened. And to my surprise he said “I feel like a monkey trying to jump in front of Hanuman looking at your knowledge”, I laughing within myself.
“We need Michelangelo and granite”, he said shapely.
I didn’t understand. He said that he would explain and insisted that we go to the Kali temple from his village first. This man who left the village with torn clothes within two days returns in a convoy of cars dressed as professional, the so-called abdicated, the true modern painted his face rigged with garbage and went pale. Few people who often feed him cheer for him. The puzzled dogs that use to look at his previous stupidity turned even more puzzled.
We parked the convey at the foot of the mountain. While my security stayed back, RK and I started climbing the mountain and upon his insistence with bare feet. It took us 3 hours to reach the peak, the orchids had fruits and they quits the hunger, natural streams of water here and there kept dust away.
I was awestruck to see this isolated cliff that kind of hid from the society among trees, holding a magnificent temple but in ruins. I don’t know why but as I stepped in I felt the strong aura that there was more than what could I feel in RK’s eyes a stronger confidence filled this air.
It broke my heart to see so many broken sculptures and pillars laying around as if it was a glorious jailed warrior laid in the arms of mother. Ridge apart shred by shred is blood substituting for the tears earth the wanted to shed. Has mighty weapons he left to the ground because no one could even lift and his glories unsung by a coye of muted Apsaras, these carvings of stone remained in pieces on the ground?
In silence as suffered to see the condition of the temple for my affinity to this art is greater than the affinity, I share with anything as.
“What did you mean by Michelangelo and Granite”, I asked, trying to deviate myself from this tragedy. See even a villager like me has heard of Uncle Angelo but never seen a marble sculpture, likewise I never heard of a great ancient Indian sculptor because none was mentioned in any of my textbooks, not that I personally had the brain to read all that information but still listen to Granite works, We need the same.
We need the marketing of Michelangelo and this strength of granite. To smoke all the culprits we need to market the theft has happened but the original paintings are safe and that the exhibit is still going as per the plan. “What if they test the paintings that they have stolen if not already? identifying an ancient painting is not so difficult.” I questioned curiously.
See your paintings were always there, this inside job could have been done even when your security was worse, but not only after you announce an exhibit with international delegates this is happening, I suppose the target is not painting pose but to the event itself. I feel a much bigger game is at play.
Okay, let the games begin, “Just to be on a safer side I’ll announce 5 or 6 more ancient paintings to have being donated to your art gallery, that should spice things up”, he replied. I was still trying to stomach what I heard I began to wonder what disgusting creature would try to spoil the heritage and name of the country in front of the whole world, then I realized looking at my fellow countrymen they would be quite a few enthusiasts who would intentionally do that.
Like they had in Mahabharat our enemies need not be Aliens, they may even take birth in our own family. I like the idea of Michelangelo and Granite so be it I thought, let the games begin.
